not so english gardens

well hello peoples! finally it's the last blog post involving our 'west trip' to cornwall! yeahoo! so i know this is a couple days late so i'll fill in the blanks a little bit. this post will be covering saturday and sunday of this week! okay? okay! wooo.
so we woke up saturday morning and were just super stoked on life. we slept in the comfiest king size bed ever, had the most amazing hot showers, made some tea and just all sorts of goodness the night before. so we were in great moods. when we woke up we all made ourselves little breakfasts in our room! it was very convenient because we could just hang out in our jammies and make whatever we wanted! we had toast, croissants, yogurt, fruit, cereal.. all the goods! it was basically the happiest morning of my life. then it was just another day in the life of study abroad! off to get on the coach! we had to hike back up the little tree covered lane to get back to the main road where the bus was gonna meet us, which wasn't a big deal, butttt apparently it had rained a lot the night before. this was bad news. i still haven't bought a pair of rain boots, and this road had legitly become a lake. there was no way of going around it, over it, or under it. so we just had to hightail through it. needless to say my poor little leather t-straps were absolutely soaked. it was like i had just gone swimming in them! they would slosh around and make little bubbles and it was nasty.

here is another shot inside our b&b

okay so once we were on the bus we started to make our way to this place called the eden project. here's my theory: it was like a 6 hour drive back to london and i don't think they wanted to do it all in one chunk so they just picked random places to stop. but it was fine. so anyways. the eden project! we were all like what the heck is that? here's my best explanation: disneyland for environmentalists. it was nutty. so basically these people took this old clay pit and wanted to put it to use after it was all done putting out clay. which is a good idea. so they decided to make these big huge fake ecosystems in these freaky bubbles. and it's surrounded by all these gardens and all sorts of kind of random stuff. they don't use any paper stuff, all their food is organic and vegan and all that shiz and yeah. you get the idea. now don't get me wrong it was really cool! especially outside the gardens were cool. but all the in your face save the earth stuff gets annoying reallll quick. one good thing was these really high powered fans they had so i used those to dry my shoes! yay!

dahlias! for you mama

rainforest biome!

trying baobab shakes

hiking to the top observation deck

sunflowers in the mediterranean biome

succulents for mama!

anyways i feel bad saying that now cause it was really cool and we should all do what we can to take care of our environment and stuff. i was just annoyed haha. okay but anyways after like 4 hours there we got back on the bus and started inching closer and closer to london! the next place was the stourworth (?) home! sadly we got there like 30 minutes before it closed (not the best planning... should've left hippie land earlier!) so we had to pick between the famous gardens and the gorgeous house. it was raining really hard and my feet were killin me. so i went in the house! it was GORGEOUS. they have used it to film both pride and prejudice and the queen. it is really amazing. it was built in the late 1700s and one of the descendants still lives there today! it was funny, she still uses one of the rooms that is on display and it was filled with booze and soda pop. hahah it was funny to see it in this beautiful luxurious old house. my favorite part of the house was the library! you can guess why.. it reminded me of belle's library! hahahah of course it had to do with Disney somehow. but seriously it was so so so so cool. the whole house.

so after that we finally made it back to london! traffic was a little intense. you can tell some of the olympic business is starting to roll in. that is gonna be really scary. i am kinda freakin out. but it was great to be back at our cute little centre! me and chelsea went and found indian food by our tube stop (third night in a row for indian food! hahaha) and it was good as usual. like i said before, heaven bless the indian people for feeding me all the time.
and then it was sunday! our third sunday in our sweet wards. weird to think about: we only have six sundays in our ward so this was our halfway mark! insane right? we are attending church in scotland one week so that kinda makes it a little easier to swallow but holy crap. this is going by fast! i think i mentioned that i was called to teach young womens and yesterday was my first lesson! it was on repentance! i was kind of scared! especially since the girl that is in yw with me was sick so she didn't come. but it went so well! yayyy! i just wish i would've remembered to bring treats! i would've been an epic failure back in utah! hahaha. but my yw are so sweet i just love them to death. it was also really cool because we had a visitor today... she was a member from holland! i had no idea until she said the closing prayer in dutch! she is also from ghana. but it was so cool because thats my ancestry! so i got all excited. :)

yw counselor, the president, me, and two of the three young women!

so that's it! i finally finished my west trip series! hallelujah! i think some of you have noticed that my pictures aren't working on my really long post from yesterday, so i am thinking i am gonna have to re-upload those pictures. there are about 90 pictures and this wifi is jurassic so i'm gonna have to wait until this weekend in france to get some better internet. so check back then!
also i just wanted to say publicly GOOD LUCK COLE!!! i was thinking about you all day yesterday and i seriously would have flown all the way back to be there! thanks for always being one of my very best friends and you will be amazing in new york city! they are so lucky to have you. ahh this is making me sad :( love you best friend!
